IS HE THE RIGHT MAN TO HEAD US

Its been almost 20 years since the first democratic election whereby we saw the first black president to rule the country Nelson Mandela. I was four years by then and everyone was so happy as he promised us equality, job opportunities, houses etc. Yes some of their promises were delivered he did a great job fighting for democracy and as a president.  As the number of unemployment decreased, houses were build, people started to see each as equals unlike during apartheid.

Nelson Mandela term came to an end and Thabo Mbeki was elected to become our president who ran for two term. He did not do that bad but also not that good. The famous story to remember about him is how he handled the HIV/AIDS issue which many feel he did not know how to approach this epidemic issue. Thabo Mbeki did not finish his second term was he was forced to resign by the ANC and the current president  Jacob Zuma.

When we talk of Jacob Zuma we are talking about a guy who was accused of rape charges. Who was accused pf corruption and resulting form his financial adviser. The charges were dropped in 2009 which resulted in political fuels. Jacob Zuma did not receive any formal education and he is our president. He is also know for practising polygamy and he has over 20 kids.

The most recent outrage from the country and opposition parties come when it was reported that Jacob has renovated his Nkandla property with 250million. i mean who renovates a how with that kind of money even if its security precaution for the president. Mandela our first black president the world icon did not receive such a treatment. These is an insult to the people of Nkandla leaving around the president's house, it is an insult to all the tax payers, to all those who are facing the social issues from unemployment, houses and poverty.  We were promised a better life but it look like a better life is for those in power only.

I believe that Zuma has not delivered on his promises, but some members of the ANC saw it important to elect him to run for the presidency in the coming election. If he failed to deliver his promises in the first term how will he do it in the second term. The only thing i know of that Jacob Zuma did is the renovation to his private house and I believe that it is exactly what he is going to do again in his second time. ANC should have elected another leader. If they do not get their acts together they will loose more supporters except me.

THE RACE FOR TOP FOUR FINISH

The FA League is labelled the best league not because of the players or money but for the quality of football it produces week in week out. With just 9 games left the race for top four finish got interesting. With Chelsea sitting at 3rd position with 55 points, Tottenham with 54 on 4th and Arsenal sitting with 50 points on the 5th position. Arsenal and Chelsea have played one game less than Tottenham Spurs.

Last season Arsenal starting the season on a very low note but they managed to finish 3rd at the end of the season as they leap fogged Spurs. While Spurs saw their chance to play in the biggest football club competition being put on hold as Chelsea managed to win Champions league which meant they automatically qualify. Now the question on everyone's lips is that will Arsenal manage to do what they have been doing all this past year since the appointment of Arsen Wenger. Arsenal has qualified for Champions league for 15 consecutive times. Will they manage to continue with their impressive record? Only time will tell as all this three club are hungry for Champions league action.

Arsenal is currently enjoying a good run of form from their last two games; as they beat one of the best clubs in Europe Byern Munic 2-0 but unfortunately crashed out of the competition with the away goal rule and went on to win their league game against Swansea which kept them in touch of the top four teams. And on the other hand Spurs poor run have let Arsenal back to the challenge for top four finish, as they lost two consecutive games against Liverpool and Fullham. Now the pressure is more on Tottenham and AVB than Arsenal and Arsen Wenger. Because Arsenal have proven to manage to qualify for the past 15 seasons, while Spurs turns hot and cold when this time of the season approach. This is one of the reason why FA is the best league in the world.

OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM IS FAILING US

South Africa is one of those countries facing a high rate of crime. We are always making the headline for wrong reasons. If it’s not someone killed, it’s a baby rapped or corruption in our government. But how will we fight this crime if our Justice system is failing us. How many people out there are still seeking for justice, rape victims and the public as a whole?

www.apherald.com

When we got our freedom we were promised a better life for all. We were promised protection by our police and the justice system, is it the case? Well I don’t think so when looking at the high crime rate in our country. The very same people that we are looking at for protection are the very same people that let us down. How many rapists are walking free, murderous, corrupt politician etc. Now you ask yourself why people take the law into their hands.

People have lost hope in our police and the justice system, because it never comes through for us especially the disadvantaged. Look at what happened to Jub Jub and co-accused Themba Tshabalala compared to Xolile Mungeni. He was sentenced to life in prison which is 25 years for the murder of Anni Dewani and what does Jub Jub get 25 years for murder of 4 School children and 2 attempted murders. How is that fair? They are both wrong they both deserve to go to jail for the rest of their lives. From my opinion I think that if you are poor the justice come down hard on you unlike if you are rich. Look at how many government officials have walked away free. I have never seen anyone send to prison for tender corruption but its there. Even our very own President managed to become president with cases hanging on his head.

To make things worse it looks like the government is doing nothing to improve this situation and this only lead to the outrages from the public. The public believe that it is an eye for eye, they believe in taking the law to their hands because they can’t stand to see the perpetrators walking free. Now you will ask yourself a question if Oscar Pistorious will also get a slap on the hand? Will it ever change?
